Staff Systems Engineer, Modeling - Warfighter Systems

Anduril Anduril · Defense · Mountain View, CA · Connected Warfare : Warfighter Systems Engineering : Hardware Engineering

Develops, validates, and optimizes mathematical and behavioral models for electro-mechanical systems, including sensors, cameras, and actuators, for defense applications. Focuses on simulation, data analysis, and integration into system-level designs.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop mathematical and behavioral models for various sensor types (e.g., IMU, Lidar, Radar, Ultrasonic, environmental sensors), capturing characteristics such as noise, latency, calibration, field of view, and transfer functions.
  2. Create detailed camera models, encompassing optics, image signal processing pipelines, distortion, resolution, dynamic range, and temporal characteristics.
  3. Build dynamic models for various actuator types (e.g., motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, solenoids), including their mechanical, electrical, and thermal behavior, force/torque output, precision, and bandwidth limitations.
  4. Integrate individual component models into comprehensive system-level simulations, accurately representing their interactions and overall system dynamics.
  5. Develop and maintain Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation environments.
