Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer - Site Liaison Engineering Lead to serve as the primary technical interface between field operations, cross-functional engineering teams, and customer points of contact. This role involves applying systems thinking to resolve complex field issues, coordinating configuration changes, and driving on-site execution to meet schedule, technical, and safety requirements. Responsibilities include leading change board packages, managing action items, providing technical oversight, and delivering technical briefings. The role requires a STEM Bachelor's degree with significant experience, a Top Secret clearance, and the ability to obtain SAP clearance. Experience supporting avionics, data centers, or communication systems in field environments is essential.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as the on-site technical liaison between operations, engineering IPTs, and customers to resolve field issues, escalations, and installations.
  2. Lead intake, technical review, and submission of Configuration Change Board packages; ensure completeness, risk assessment, and implementation guidance.
  3. Manage and prioritize cross-functional action items and CRs; concurrently support dozens of change requests while tracking status and performance metrics.
  4. Provide technical oversight and mentorship to Responsible Engineers (REs) during modification design, verification, and implementation.
  5. Deliver technical briefings and status updates to customers, program leadership, and stakeholders.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM field and 12 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM field and 10 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a PhD in a STEM field and 8 years of relevant military / professional experience.
  • Experience supporting avionics, data centers, or communication systems in field or depot environments.
  • Experience managing configuration and change processes (CCB) and coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and manage multiple concurrent engineering actions.
  • Active US Government Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

Nice to have

  • Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • Active US Government Top Secret SCI clearance (with a background investigation within the last 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Experience with JIRA, Agile practices, configuration/data management, and IFC management.
  • Military experience or prior field/depot engineering support in defense/aviation.
  • Experience presenting to technical review boards and leading software/technical reviews.
