Staff Technical Program Manager, Vehicle Validation

Rivian Rivian · Auto · Irvine, CA · Quality

This role is for a Staff Technical Program Manager focused on vehicle validation at Rivian. The primary responsibility is to lead the vehicle-level validation roadmap from concept through launch, ensuring product function, quality, reliability, and real-world performance. This involves translating technical requirements and risks into validation strategies, building and maintaining integrated validation plans, and leading cross-functional alignment with engineering, program management, test, manufacturing, and other teams. The role also includes establishing dashboards and metrics, identifying and mitigating risks, and driving continuous improvement in validation processes and tools. While the company is in the automotive industry and likely uses AI tools, the core function of this role is program management and validation engineering, not AI/ML development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own and continuously improve the integrated vehicle validation roadmap from concept through engineering sign-off, with decision-ready deliverables.
  2. Translate DFMEA, NUDD, requirements, and known product risks into an integrated vehicle validation strategy across Rivian’s validation pillars.
  3. Build and maintain the integrated vehicle validation plan, including what tests run when, on which vehicles, at what maturity, and with what configuration.
  4. Lead cross-functional alignment across engineering, program, test, manufacturing, launch, service, quality, and other partner teams to align validation coverage, asset plans, timing, and readiness.
  5. Re-plan quickly when content, software, build timing, or readiness changes create risk, maintaining a credible path to key milestones and launch.
