Strategic Sourcing Manager – Camera, Depth & Optics (smartglasses/ar)

Meta Meta · Big Tech · Sunnyvale, CA

Meta is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager for Camera, Depth & Optics for their Reality Labs division, focusing on developing strategic relationships, leading commercial negotiations, and managing end-to-end supply chain for camera, depth, and optics modules and components. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure supplier readiness for product development and ramp-up, influencing supplier roadmaps, and establishing strategic supplier relationships. While the role is not directly building AI, it emphasizes the use and development of AI skills for workflow optimization and staying current with AI technologies.

What you'd actually do

  1. Help support the development of commodity/category sourcing strategies for Camera, Depth, and Optics modules, ensuring suppliers can meet Smartglasses/AR current and future technical and business requirements
  2. Be a subject matter expert in module integration supply chains (camera/depth modules), including key manufacturing processes, capacity models, yield drivers, test coverage, and reliability requirements
  3. Continually benchmark the industry to monitor technology trends (camera sensors and module architectures, depth modalities, lens and coating technologies, actuator trends, optical safety/regulatory requirements) and ensure best practices are incorporated into the Reality Labs supply chain
  4. Lead supplier selection criteria, evaluate alternative suppliers, manage RFQs, and drive final supplier selection in partnership with Engineering, Quality, and Technical Operations
  5. Drive end-to-end module commercial ownership, including BOM cost, conversion cost, labor/overhead, yield assumptions, tooling/NRE, and cost-down roadmaps

Skills

Required

  • BS degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or relevant field
  • 7+ years of work experience in sourcing or related fields associated with camera/depth modules, optics components, consumer electronics modules, or adjacent electromechanical supply chains
  • Strong experience in module integration management: supplier evaluation/selection, RFQ execution, cost modeling (BOM + conversion), contract negotiation, and supplier performance management
  • Experience driving cross-functional execution with Engineering, Quality, Ops/Manufacturing, and Program Management across development builds and ramp
  • Material management and CTB (Clear to Build) proficiency; ability to manage lead times, allocation risk, and build readiness
  • Experience communicating with and influencing all levels of management
  • 7+ years of sourcing experience managing global suppliers across module integrators and critical component ecosystems
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Experience sourcing and managing suppliers for optical components (lenses, coatings, filters, actuators, VCSEL/laser, receivers) and/or camera/depth module integrators

Nice to have

  • Advanced engineering degree and/or MBA
  • Optical understanding is preferred (imaging or depth fundamentals, key optical performance drivers)
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
