Structures Engineer, Air Vehicles

Anduril Anduril · Defense · Costa Mesa, CA · Air Dominance & Strike : Air Dominance & Strike Hardware : Air Vehicle Structures

This role is for a Structures Engineer in the Air Vehicles division of a defense technology company. The engineer will design and analyze structural parts for air vehicles and missile platforms, owning the full development lifecycle from conceptual to detailed design and analysis. Responsibilities include using first-principle methods, performing finite element analysis, applying design for manufacturing concepts, and collaborating in a multidisciplinary environment. The role requires a B.S. in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in aerospace or related industry, strong technical knowledge in core engineering principles, and the ability to obtain a US DoD Secret Clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Utilize first principle methods and design tools to develop new aircraft products
  2. Own development of primary and secondary aircraft structural parts and assemblies (metallic and composite) from preliminary design through prototype manufacturing
  3. Perform complex modeling and finite element analysis at the detailed component level, major assembly level, and aircraft level (analysis simulations to include strength, buckling, damage tolerance, and delamination)
  4. Apply design for manufacturing concepts to create solutions that are cost effective and easy to manufacture at rate
  5. Conduct trade studies and perform design and analysis research of complex engineering concepts to determine an optimal solution for weight, performance, manufacturability, cost, and/or schedule

Skills
