Boeing is seeking experienced Design Engineers for the Payloads organization within the Commercial Aircraft 787 Program in North Charleston, SC. The role involves leading the development of engineering solutions for airplane interiors, cargo compartments, exterior markings, and associated systems, spanning the entire product lifecycle from customer configuration to production and certification. Responsibilities include managing development, test, and production activities, leading solutions for in-service issues, and mentoring engineers. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 14+ years of experience, including design, integration, and/or certification, and at least 1 year of experience in aerospace interiors.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead development of engineering solutions for the Payloads Engineering function in support of current and future commercial airplane products.
  2. Manage development, test, and production activities and direct activities to optimize integration and achieve program goals.
  3. Lead development of engineering solutions for airline customer in-service reliability and/or safety issues.
  4. Train, coach, and mentor Payloads and Structures engineers.
  5. Validating/demonstrating compliance to regulatory requirements

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 14+ years of experience in engineering, including design, integration, and/or certification
  • 1+ year of experience in aerospace interiors, materials and properties, design criteria and release processes.

Nice to have

  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent
  • 9+ years of experience in program or project management, leading project and/or program proposals of varying complexity
  • Demonstrates good problem-solving skills and critical thinking
