Joby Aviation is seeking a Supplier Industrialization Engineer, Electronics to manage critical component development and qualification activities at suppliers. This role involves improving existing tools, developing quality management approaches, leading New Product Introduction (NPI) at suppliers, and ensuring suppliers meet performance, delivery, and reliability expectations. The engineer will guide suppliers in developing robust manufacturing processes and validate corrective actions. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field and 5+ years of experience in industrial, manufacturing, process engineering, or supplier quality engineering are required, along with a deep understanding of electronics and electrical commodities.

What you'd actually do

  1. Improve existing tools and develop effective and creative approaches to quality management in an extremely intense, fast-paced, and innovative environment
  2. Develop, manage, audit, improve, and correct supplier planning and execution of component manufacturing and assembly techniques and quality control processes from the advanced development phase to mass production qualification
  3. Provide leadership for New Product Introduction (NPI) at Suppliers and lead supplier improvements in scalability, cost, and quality
  4. Facilitate communication and clarification of technical requirements between Suppliers and Purchasing, Quality, and Design teams
  5. Accountable for supplier audits to ensure their ability to meet part performance, delivery, and reliability expectations

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering or evidence of experience and exceptional ability
  • 5+ years experience in industrial, manufacturing, process engineering, and/or supplier quality engineering
  • A deep understanding of product technologies and manufacturing processes for Electronics and Electrical commodities including PCB, PCBA, FPCs, SiC, Actives, Passives, Assemblies
  • Organized with a good balance between delegation and capacity to deep dive into tactical issues when required
  • In-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and inspection
  • Demonstrable leadership abilities
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time both domestic and international with valid passport or ability to obtain one

  • Experience in Quality Systems: PPAP/APQP processes
