Supplier Quality Systems Engineer

Saronic Saronic · Defense · Austin, TX · Supply Chain

This role focuses on defining, building, and scaling systems for supplier quality and supply chain operations within a company developing autonomous maritime platforms. It involves translating operational needs into digital systems, evaluating off-the-shelf tools, and potentially defining requirements for internal software development, with an emphasis on practicality and scalability.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define and execute the roadmap for supplier quality systems and supporting supply chain infrastructure
  2. Translate supplier quality, manufacturing, and operational needs into clear system requirements and workflows
  3. Partner with software engineering teams to scope, design, and implement internal tools where needed
  4. Evaluate, select, and implement off-the-shelf software solutions (e.g., QMS, supplier management, traceability tools)
  5. Build scalable processes for supplier qualification, performance management, nonconformance handling, and corrective actions

Skills

Required

  • Experience working with or implementing quality management systems (QMS) and/or supply chain software platforms
  • Strong understanding of supplier quality processes (e.g., qualification, audits, SCAR/CAPA, performance management)
  • Experience translating operational needs into system or software requirements
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical (engineering, quality, software) and non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to build or improve systems in fast-paced, scaling environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, execution-focused mindset

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, supply chain systems, or related roles

What the JD emphasized

  • systems that underpin Saronic’s supplier quality and broader supply chain operations
  • architect and implement supplier quality and supply chain systems from the ground up
  • systems are practical, efficient, and aligned with how the business actually operates
  • systems that evolve with Saronic as it scales
  • supplier quality systems and supporting supply chain infrastructure
  • supplier quality, manufacturing, and operational needs into clear system requirements and workflows
  • implement internal tools where needed
  • implement off-the-shelf software solutions
  • scalable processes for supplier qualification, performance management, nonconformance handling, and corrective actions
  • systems balance speed, usability, and rigor—avoiding unnecessary complexity or “checkbox” processes
  • align systems with operational realities
  • design systems that can evolve with increasing production volume and supplier complexity
  • Drive data visibility and reporting across supplier quality metrics
  • Continuously improve systems and workflows
