Supply Chain Capacity Engineer

Meta Meta · Big Tech · Fremont, CA

Meta is seeking a Supply Chain Engineer to optimize operations and planning for its infrastructure supply chain (servers, data centers, network). The role involves building software and mathematical optimization models to balance capacity, flexibility, and cost, working cross-functionally with engineering and business teams. Responsibilities include owning supply chain planning, designing software improvements, developing analytical models, and managing escalations. Qualifications include a technical degree, 6+ years in modeling/optimization, 3+ years in coding (Python, R, etc.), and 3+ years in supply chain management. Experience with infrastructure operations, AI/automation tools for planning, and data center supply chains is preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own infrastructure supply chain planning and operations for Meta (as part of Meta's overall capacity plan): including servers, network, and data center equipment from components through manufacturing to finished goods
  2. Design improvements to software systems to optimize supply chain operations efficiency and quality, partner with software engineers to implement and contribute code yourself
  3. Develop and analyze business and technical data and scenarios to solve complex supply chain problems and drive decision-making
  4. Build mathematical models to perform simulation and optimization studies of supply/demand projections, scenario planning, and gap closure analysis while balancing constraints, product mixes, and costs
  5. Contribute to end-to-end supply chain processes (as part of Meta's overall capacity plan), methodologies, and data to deliver an executable and optimized supply plan

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 6+ years of experience in designing and implementing models, optimization algorithms, operations research, industrial engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in coding/scripting languages such as Python, R, Java, C, C++, PHP
  • 3+ years of experience in supply chain management — planning, manufacturing, operations, inventory, etc
  • Experience working with distributed systems at scale
  • Experience in infrastructure operations and technical infrastructure knowledge
  • Experience with planning or optimization or modeling or performance analysis
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Experience managing ambiguity

Nice to have

  • Track record of applying AI or automation tools to improve planning workflows, forecast accuracy, or supply chain visibility
  • Familiarity with statistical forecasting methods or demand planning tools applied to infrastructure or hardware supply chains
  • Experience with data center infrastructure supply chains, including server hardware, networking equipment, or storage systems procurement and deployment planning
  • Experience using business intelligence or data visualization platforms to build supply chain reporting and capacity coverage dashboards

What the JD emphasized

  • building software and mathematical optimization models, not manual spreadsheets
