This role is for a Supply Chain Planning position within Microsoft's Cloud Supply Chain organization. The role focuses on managing supply planning for assigned commodities, partnering with suppliers and stakeholders, managing key supply metrics, leading cross-functional planning for product transitions, defining inventory strategies, conducting scenario planning, overseeing component flow, and driving program management for supply chain initiatives. While the company's Cloud business involves AI, this specific role is centered on traditional supply chain management functions and does not involve building or directly working with AI/ML models.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own supply planning for assigned commodities, including supplier forecast reviews, supply commitments, and internal communication of supply status and supportability.
  2. Partner with suppliers, system integrators, and internal stakeholders to ensure purchase orders align with supply plans, inventory strategy, and operational requirements.
  3. Manage key supply metrics such as inventory health, days of supply, shortages, excess and obsolete inventory, and supplier exposure to drive performance improvements.
  4. Lead cross-functional planning for product transitions, including end-of-life management, new platform ramp readiness, and risk mitigation.
  5. Define and optimize inventory buffer strategies based on forecast, demand patterns, and business risk.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 3+ years supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, or related experience OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 1+ year(s) supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, or related experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
