Ford Ford · Auto · Livonia, MI +1 · PD Operations and Quality

This role leads the engineering team responsible for the design and release of structural components for transmissions and electric drive units, including castings and machined parts. It involves supporting current production and future programs, managing engineering workload, providing leadership, addressing warranty issues, mentoring engineers in Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) processes, and collaborating with various teams and suppliers.

What you'd actually do

  1. Assess and assign transmission and electric drive unit structures components (housings, cases, covers, supports, etc) engineering workload to support new and current production programs.
  2. Provide leadership, objectives cascade, performance feedback, input and motivation on projects and performance.
  3. Review, analyze, and address any warranty issues attributed to responsible structures components.
  4. Audit, coach and mentor engineers in all engineering Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) elements, design rules, and requirement elements in conformance with delivering new programs.
  5. Collaborate with Systems & tech specialist community to ensure robust design reviews and full compliance with FMA requirements at each program milestone.
