Survivability Systems Engineer/scientist (lead or Senior)

Boeing Boeing · Aerospace · El Segundo, CA

This role focuses on survivability systems engineering for satellites, involving analysis and testing of material performance in simulated space environments, including radiation effects, micrometeoroid impacts, and contamination. It requires collaboration with technical disciplines to balance survivability with cost, weight, and risk in satellite design.

What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborate effectively with various technical disciplines in a team environment to balance factors such as survivability, cost, weight, and technical risk in the final design.
  2. Execute and oversee the analysis and testing of material, units, subsystem and system performance in simulated space environments.
  3. Including but not limited to radiation-related effects such as total dose (including ELDRS and dose rate effects), displacement damage, single event effects, internal ESD charging, Micrometeoroid and Orbital Debris, On-orbit contamination analysis.
  4. Plan and conduct testing at the piece part, slice, unit, and vehicle levels to support design and verify compliance with survivability-related requirements.
