Amazon WW R&R is comprised of business, product, operational, program, software engineering and data teams that manage the life of a returned or damaged product from a customer to the warehouse and on to its next best use. Our work is broad and deep: we train machine learning models to automate routing and find signals to optimize re-use; we invent new channels to give products a second life; we develop world-class product support to help customers love what they buy; we pilot smarter product evaluations; we work from the customer backward to find ways to make the return experience remarkably delightful and easy; and we do it all while scrutinizing our business with laser focus.
As an SysDE II, your role is pivotal in maintaining the robust and innovative solutions of our team. You will work on complex challenges in existing and new development initiatives, focusing on areas with ambiguity. Your goal is to design and develop software systems that are secure, maintainable, scalable, and extendable.
Key job responsibilities Systems Development Engineer will contribute to all aspects of an agile systems development life cycle including design, architecture, development, documentation, testing and operations. Primary responsibilities include developing tools, automation and monitoring solutions, defining operational processes, improving operational excellence and readiness of the systems, troubleshooting, diagnosing and fixing production software issues, implementing the fix for internally developed code, updating, tracking and resolving technical challenges.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 5+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java
- Experience utilizing AWS cloud solutions in a DevOps environment
- Experience with distributed systems at scale

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
