System Modeling Design Engineer

This role focuses on developing and applying advanced simulation frameworks for photonic device and system modeling. The engineer will build accurate, scalable models to predict optical performance, power efficiency, signal integrity, and reliability, enabling simulation-driven design. Responsibilities include developing SystemVerilog models, performing time-domain simulations with Python/Julia, evaluating trade-offs, building multi-physics models, and correlating simulations with lab measurements. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams to refine models and improve simulation methodologies.

What you'd actually do

  1. Contribute to and lead photonic device and system modeling efforts, enabling simulation-driven architecture definition, design decisions, and performance optimization.
  2. Develop and apply SystemVerilog-based models for optical system-level simulation and co-verification with electronic subsystems.
  3. Perform time-domain modeling and simulation using Python and/or Julia to analyze transient behavior, including optical link performance, SerDes interactions, DSP algorithms, jitter, noise, and signal integrity.
  4. Evaluate and define system-level trade-offs across photonic and electronic domains, with a focus on power, performance, reliability, and cost.
  5. Build, validate, and maintain multi-physics models (optical, electrical, thermal) to predict behavior across operating conditions, data rates, and process variations.
