System Safety Engineer, Vehicle Os

Applied Intuition Applied Intuition · Robotics · Sunnyvale, CA · Vehicle OS Systems Engineering

This role focuses on vehicle-level safety analysis and safety case development for driving functions and platform integration. The engineer will translate safety analysis into requirements, apply ISO 26262 standards, and collaborate with HW/SW teams to ensure safety implementation. Responsibilities include developing hazard analysis, FMEA, and safety case artifacts for road-driving features.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop and own vehicle-level safety cases for driving functions and platform integration
  2. Translate safety analysis into clear, implementable safety requirements and constraints
  3. Apply ISO 26262 Part 3 (Concept Phase), Part 4 (System Development), and Part 9 (analysis & decomposition)
  4. Work across vehicle features (braking, steering, ADAS, body functions) to identify risks and define mitigations
  5. Hands-on development of safety artifacts aligned to road-driving features (e.g., hazard analysis, FMEA, safety case structures)
