System Specialist - Meta Robotics Studio

Meta Meta · Big Tech · Redmond, WA +1

Meta is seeking a System Specialist for their Robotics Studio to own end-to-end hardware test development, integration, and execution on complex robotic systems. This role involves architecting robotic systems, defining requirements, leading proof-of-concept projects, and driving cross-functional collaboration. The position requires extensive experience in systems engineering, robotics platforms (ROS/ROS2), Python/C++, and integrating AI tools for workflow optimization, with a focus on device validation and reliability testing.

What you'd actually do

  1. Architect and integrate robotic systems, subsystems, and test stations for device validation and reliability
  2. Define system-level requirements and specifications, translating customer and infrastructure partner needs into actionable product requirements
  3. Lead proof-of-concept projects to evaluate enabling technologies and subsystems; build and test prototypes
  4. Develop systems architecture for robotic platforms including manipulators, sensing, controls, and network connectivity
  5. Solidify and stabilize core robot functionality — sensing, controls, uptime, and communication interfaces

Skills

Required

  • 10+ years of professional experience in systems engineering, systems integration, test station design, or robotic system development
  • Experience with robotic platforms (e.g., ROS/ROS2) and integration of robotic algorithms (path planning, motion control, sensing, localization)
  • Proficiency in Python and/or C++ for system-level development and automation
  • Experience with characterizing and evaluating electromechanical systems
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and driving complex integration projects from concept through production
  • Experience communicating technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences (engineering, operations, non-technical stakeholders)
  • Track record of defining technical direction and influencing organizational strategy
  • Experience with rapid prototyping, hardware/software co-design, and manufacturing handoff processes
  • Familiarity with reliability testing, validation frameworks, and design-for-test methodologies
  • Experience optimizing design of existing products or devices for production at scale
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Knowledge of sensing technologies (distance sensors, IMUs, cameras), localization, and navigation
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Experience prioritizing work based on impact and deadlines, and taking ownership of deliverables through completion
  • Experience working in highly collaborative, cross-functional environments at a hardware + software intersection
  • 12+ years of experience in systems integration or robotic system development
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Proven track record mentoring engineers and building team capability
