Systems Design Engineer - Hsio Enablement

AMD AMD · Semiconductors · Bangalore, India · Engineering

Systems Design Engineer for HSIO enablement at AMD, focusing on Ethernet, PCIe, and USB post-silicon validation. The role involves developing and executing test plans, working with engineering teams and the vendor ecosystem, tracking issues, and driving technical problems to resolution. Requires strong silicon validation experience with high-speed interfaces and SoC subsystems.

What you'd actually do

  1. work as part of the post-silicon validation group, facilitating all aspects of Ethernet ( 25G,10G, 1G DFP+/Backplane), PCIE Gen 5 and Gen 4 and USB enablement, working with engineering teams across AMD and with the vendor eco-system.
  2. developing and executing enablement and feature test plans and reports throughout the execution to meet project milestones at POR quality.
  3. facilitate the enablement efforts of a program to ensure timely and qualitative completion of the milestones and adhere to the program commitments.
  4. diligently tracking issues, call out risks, uplevel statuses to Program Managers and Senior Management.
  5. bringing out and evolve the best methods of experimentation and enablement, thereby contributing towards a center of excellence for the PCIE/NTB domain.

Skills

Required

  • 7+ years of silicon validation for multiple any SoCs especially x86 containing multi core CPU/GPU subsystems as well as high speed interfaces like Ethernet (25G/10g/1g), PCIe(Gne5,Gen4) CXL, USB etc.
  • Good understanding of CPU subsystem in x86 / any SoC environment and proven expertise in owning validation requirements & Validation Plan for the High speed serial IO interfaces especially on Ethernet, PCIe , CXL, USB etc
  • Good understanding of x86 FW and BIOS Architecture
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
  • Exposure to certain stages of Silicon Validation will be crucial, including use-case validation.
  • Knowledge of shell programming/scripting (e.g. Tcl Perl, Python etc.)
  • Hands-on experience dealing with Traffic generators, PCIe Analyzers or any related serial Analyzers
  • Contributing to test plan design and establishing requirements
  • Providing day-to-day oversight for the team, with specific responsibilities for the feature enablement and validation of Ethernet, PCIe, NVMe, USB and other high speed IO features
  • this is a technical role that requires broad system knowledge and the ability to drive technical issues to resolution
  • Problem solving - the successful candidate loves debugging complex problems and has a track record of doing so

Nice to have

  • Practical experience of working on Processor based system designs is a plus
