Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer (Product Owner) - Level 4 to join their team in Huntsville, AL. This role involves leading an Agile Scrum team focused on algorithm development and analysis for the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Fire Control (GFC) product. Responsibilities include interpreting, scoping, and estimating work for algorithm development to meet system-level requirements, planning and scheduling team tasks, and assessing algorithm effectiveness and performance. Requires a Bachelor's degree in STEM, 8 years of experience, leadership experience, strong technical presentation skills, MATLAB and Python proficiency, and a Secret security clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. As the Product Owner of your scrum team, it will be your responsibility to interpret, scope and estimate the work required to develop algorithms to meet the System Level requirements and Prime Item Description Specification requirements.
  2. You will also plan and schedule the performance of that work by your team.
  3. The selected Sr. Principal Systems Engineer (Product Owner) – Level 4 will work in a collaborative environment to understand, implement, and assess new capabilities and algorithms.
  4. you will be part of the team that develops new algorithms, improves old algorithms, and assesses the effectiveness and performance of them in the context of the GFC software
  5. Proven experience in developing, prototyping and evaluating complex algorithms

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline
  • 8 years of related experience
  • Experience leading a technical team of 5 or more employees
  • Proven people leadership skills
  • Strong technical presentation skills
  • Experience estimating planning and scheduling Algorithm development and Analysis work for a technical team
  • Recent and extensive MATLAB and Python Experience/ proficiency
  • Proven experience in developing, prototyping and evaluating complex algorithms
  • Extensive background in mathematics and physics
  • Math Skills: Linear algebra, statistics
  • Physics Skills: Astro or Orbital mechanics, RF propagation
  • Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
