We are seeking a Systems Engineering Manager 1 in our Bethpage, NY location. This is a dual-role manager position, involving balancing both the overall Functional oversight and management of a Systems Engineering group of 6 - 8 engineers as well as performance of productive work on a program or several programs.
This position is based out of Bethpage, NY and will be 100% onsite.
What You’ll l get to Do:
- Lead a team of systems engineers performing direct work on multiple programs
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
- Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
- Perform technical planning, modeling and simulation, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems
- Oversee and manage the quality and timeliness of the organization’s products, and identification and remediation of potential issues before they become problems
- Develop and manage detailed budgets and schedules and create work assignments for indirect tasking
- Guide the team in applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools using Agile development methodology.
- Drive agility and operational efficiency in Systems Engineering and its associated processes and tools
This position is contingent upon the successful transfer of an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience or a PhD with 0 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- U.S Citizenship is required.
- A current/active U.S. Government Secret Clearance
- Experience with Systems Engineering development lifecycle
- Experience with people management
- Experience in establishing and maintaining customer and/or program communications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven leadership in a distributed team environment
- Experience in engineering functional management
- Experience leading a team of 5-12 employees
- Experience with DOORS and CAMEO Model Based Engineering development tools
- Experience with Test and Evaluation (T&E) experience

Primary Level Salary Range: $133,000.00 - $199,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
