Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer with a focus on mechatronics systems for their J&J Robotics division. The role involves supporting the development and sustaining of robotic surgical subsystems, planning and implementing integration activities, analyzing and resolving integration issues, and developing new test methods. The position requires a BS or advanced degree in a relevant engineering field with 1-2+ years of experience, hands-on experience with electromechanical systems, and basic programming skills in Python/C++.

What you'd actually do

  1. Plan and implement subsystem-level integration activities for proof-of-concepts
  2. Analyze, root cause, resolve and document novel integrative issues that arise from subsystems of focus by collaborating with various teams
  3. Support development and feasibility demonstration of new test methods and fixtures for subsystem-level integration uses and/or functional test processes
  4. Conduct engineering studies to de-risk the design ranging from proof-of-concepts to product candidates, analyze results and provide meaningful feedback to design teams

Skills

Required

  • BS Engineering (Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics) or equivalent areas in combination with 2+ years of related experience, OR An advanced degree (e.g.MS, PhD) Engineering (Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics) or equivalent in combination with 1+ year experience
  • Hands-on experience with electromechanical systems design, implementation and integration
  • Experience working with electrical sensors and mechanical actuators
  • Basic skills in Python and/or C++ programming
  • Ability and willingness to work on site in Santa Clara CA

Nice to have

  • Previous experience planning and implementing subsystem-level integration activities for proof-of-concepts
  • A proven ability to analyze, root cause, resolve and document novel integrative issues that arise from subsystems of focus by collaborating with various teams
  • Previous experience supporting the development and feasibility demonstration of new test methods and fixtures for subsystem-level integration uses and/or functional test processes
  • Previous experience conducting engineering studies to de-risk the design ranging from proof-of-concepts to product candidates, analyzing results and providing meaningful feedback to design teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a regulated environment in compliance to ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820
