Systems Integration Engineer - Actuation Systems

Figure AI Figure AI · Robotics · HQ · Systems Integration & Test

Figure AI is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer focused on actuation systems for their humanoid robots. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate, test, and debug actuation subsystems, including sensors, feedback systems, and real-time control architectures. Responsibilities include defining test plans, developing diagnostic algorithms, tuning controllers, and building automation tools. Requires 5+ years of experience in robotic or electromechanical systems, proficiency in Matlab and Python, and a strong understanding of mechanics, kinematics, controls, and sensor technologies.

What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborate on the system-level deployment of actuators within the humanoid robot, including interfaces, behavior, and performance at the robot level.
  2. Collaborate on calibration strategies and end-of-line bring-up. Define and execute design-validation and production-scale test plans for actuation subsystems, document results, and ensure quality and reliability targets are met.
  3. Incorporate sensing and feedback systems, including position and torque, into real-time control architectures.
  4. Develop real-time diagnostic algorithms to enable fall-back strategies.
  5. Debug and analyze performance. Perform hands‑on debugging of mechanical, electrical and software integration issues; use diagnostic tools to identify root causes and drive corrective actions
