Systems Test Engineer Intern (summer 2026)

Internship role focused on assisting with structural, environmental, and functional testing of flight-critical components and systems for an eVTOL aircraft. Responsibilities include test preparation, execution, reporting, rig design and assembly, and managing small projects. Requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with experience in mechanical/aerospace design, electro-mechanical systems, or machine control.

What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborate with Test Engineers in test preparation, execution, and reporting on various sub-system test venues
  2. Work with Test Engineers in designing, assembling and preparing test rigs for execution
  3. Design and analyze mechanical test and support equipment under the supervision of a team peer using CAD based tools (if relevant to education background)
  4. Design and analyze electrical/electronic test and support equipment under the supervision of a team peer using computer-based tools such as Altium (if relevant to education background)
  5. Generate engineering drawings and support equipment fabrication.
  6. Manage small projects from conception to completion

Skills

Required

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant discipline
  • Currently at junior level or above
  • Minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and onsite
  • Experience or course work in Mechanical or Aerospace Design, Electro-Mechanical Systems, Thermal Systems, Electrical/Power Engineering, or Machine Control (PLCs, robotics)
  • Knowledge of design practices, materials, and basic analysis

Nice to have

  • Prior relevant intern or co-op experience
  • Project work, or hobbies, showing some hands-on attitude and creativity, and application of engineering knowledge.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to listen and learn effectively.
