T-7 Chief Software Engineer

Boeing is seeking a Chief Software Engineer for the T-7 System Software team in Berkley, MO. This role supports the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization and focuses on full life-cycle software development for the Mission Systems and Vehicle Management software products for the T-7 program. The candidate will drive the execution of real-time embedded C++ and Ada software, collaborate with internal and external teams, and provide project, people, and technical leadership. Responsibilities include overseeing design, development, testing, maintenance, requirements translation, system integrations, architecture, debugging, user support, research of emerging technologies, process improvement, project management, and supplier management.

What you'd actually do

  1. Oversees the design, development, test, and maintenance of non-embedded software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards
  2. Oversees the review, analysis, and translation of customer requirements into initial design of software products
  3. Reviews the development, maintenance, enhancement and optimization of software products and functionalities for systems integrations
  4. Oversees development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software products
  5. Oversees debugging and resolution of issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance
  • 15+ years of Software Engineering experience
  • 10+ years of experience developing embedded real-time software
  • 3+ years of programming experience in C++
  • Experience with Agile software development

Nice to have

  • Level 5 / Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 14+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 18+ years of directly related work experience OR 22+ years of related, relevant experience
  • Experience leading small (5+ people) teams for embedded software projects
  • Experience leading avionics supplier-developed projects
  • Experience in all phases of the software development life cycle
  • Experience working with software version control tools such as Git
