Tax Analyst

This role is for a Tax Analyst at Target in India, focusing on US Sales and Use Tax compliance. Responsibilities include preparing and filing tax returns, managing payments, reconciling general ledger accounts, and supporting tax audits. The role requires experience in sales and use tax preparation and compliance, knowledge of US tax regulations, and proficiency with tax software and Microsoft applications.

What you'd actually do

  1. Prepare accurate and timely sales and use tax workpapers to support tax returns and filings.
  2. Prepare state and local sales and use tax returns and other miscellaneous tax returns as required, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  3. File sales and use tax returns across multiple US jurisdictions, ensuring timely submission.
  4. Perform state-wise general ledger reconciliations for sales and use tax accounts.
  5. Support in filing responses to Sales / local tax authorities in relation to queries / clarifications on the returns filed, payments made, prepayment or filing thresholds, audit queries etc

Skills

Required

  • 3/4 years of experience in sales and use tax preparation, compliance and accounting
  • Bachelors or Masters degree or equivalent combination of professional education and experience
  • Strong knowledge of US state and local tax regulations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining appropriate prioritization and ensuring adherence to deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented, organized and efficient in work processes.
  • Strong technical skills, ability to work within multiple systems, and high proficiency with Microsoft applications.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Vertex and SAP, or similar tax software and general ledger system, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in using data and analytical tools including Alteryx and data visualization tools is preferred.
