The role involves a Tax Law Expert providing high-quality data annotations and inputs for training AI models in tax law contexts. Responsibilities include using proprietary software for data labeling, delivering curated data for complex tax scenarios, and collaborating with technical teams to refine annotation tools and support AI task training.

What you'd actually do

  1. Utilize proprietary software to provide accurate input and labels for tax law projects, ensuring high-quality data for AI model training.
  2. Deliver curated, high-quality data for tax law scenarios involving complex structures for clients, including trust and estate taxation documents, charitable gifting strategies and agreements, private foundation formation and compliance materials, tax opinions on diverse assets (real estate, private equity, art, cryptocurrency, and alternative investments), wealth transfer planning (GRATs, IDGTs, dynasty trusts), and substantial estate and gift tax filings.
  3. Collaborate with technical staff to support the training of new AI tasks and contribute to the development of innovative technologies.
  4. Assist in designing and improving efficient annotation tools tailored for tax law and wealth planning documentation.
  5. Select and analyze complex problems in tax law fields aligned with your expertise to enhance AI model performance.

Skills

Required

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active admission to a state bar.
  • Professional experience at a top-tier white-shoe law firm and/or a leading boutique tax firm.
  • Direct experience in sophisticated tax law work, including drafting and reviewing trust and estate planning documents, private foundation materials, charitable gifting strategies, complex wealth transfer structures, and tax opinions on diverse asset classes.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state income taxation, estate and gift taxation, private client services, and regulatory compliance in high-wealth scenarios.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing informal and professional English.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent reading comprehension and ability to exercise autonomous judgment with limited data.

Nice to have

  • Extensive transactional experience in wealth transfer taxation, trust and estate planning, private foundations, or charitable giving strategies at a white-shoe or boutique tax firm.
  • Proven track record handling tax implications of complex asset portfolios and substantial wealth transfers.
  • Experience reviewing tax opinions, foundation compliance filings, and planning documents for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Comfort with recording audio or video sessions for data collection.
  • Familiarity with AI or data annotation workflows in a technical setting.
