Tax Senior

This role focuses on managing state tax liability for clients, providing compliance and consulting services, and conducting tax research. It requires experience with tax preparation and research tools, state tax laws, and resolving tax notices.

What you'd actually do

  1. Assist clients to manage state tax liability and such challenges as states with unique tax laws, the enforcement focus of state departments of revenue, the growing number of audits, and increased merger and acquisition activity.
  2. Provide compliance and consulting services to corporate and private equity clients.
  3. Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates.
  4. Assist with overseeing complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries as well as researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues such as deferred tax liability issues and tax implications of financing techniques for a variety of entities and their affiliates.
  5. Undertake tax compliance assignments for current client corporations and partnerships.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • 18 months of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation
  • preparing and reviewing tax returns, estimates, extensions, and provisions for corporations and partnerships in multistate jurisdictions
  • preparing and reviewing income and franchise state corporate tax returns
  • preparing and reviewing K-1s, withholding and composite state returns for partnerships and limited liability companies
  • utilizing tax research tools, including CCH, RIA Checkpoint, BNA, and LexisNexis
  • utilizing tax preparation software, including GoSystem, ONESOURCE, and SuperForm
  • performing state taxation services, including state apportionments and modifications
  • mediating between client and state revenue department to resolve state tax notices
