Tax Senior - Insurance Tax

This role is for a Tax Senior specializing in the Insurance Tax sector within Deloitte's Business Tax Services. Responsibilities include providing tax advisory services, coordinating data for tax return preparation, assisting with strategic tax planning and researching federal tax law, and aiding with IRS audit defense. The role requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, and 3+ years of experience with private or public corporations. Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree and experience in specific insurance industries or with large CPA firms.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide tax advisory services to clients in the insurance industry across business functions such as underwriting, claims, IT, finance and accounting
  2. Coordinating with the client’s tax and finance departments to gather data for tax return preparation
  3. Assisting with strategic tax planning including researching federal tax law and drafting technical memos
  4. Assisting with IRS audit defense.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related fields
  • 3+ years’ experience working with private or public corporations
  • Demonstrated abilities to problem solve and lead
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Active accreditations (obtained, in process, or willing to obtain)

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM
  • Experience in the life insurance, property insurance or casualties' industry
  • Previous Big 4 or large CPA firm experience
  • Previous experience with corporate tax preparation, tax compliance, or tax controversy
