Technical Documentation & Content Engineer, Model Context Protocol

Anthropic Anthropic · AI Frontier · AI Research & Engineering

This role focuses on creating comprehensive documentation and educational resources for Anthropic's Model Context Protocol (MCP), a system for secure connections between Claude and external systems. The engineer will lead documentation strategy, develop protocol specifications, create open-source resources, and engage with the developer community to drive adoption. While the role is within an AI company and deals with AI systems, the core function is technical documentation and community engagement, not direct AI model development or research.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead comprehensive documentation strategy for MCP across all Claude surfaces, Anthropic-owned SDKs and alongside the open source community
  2. Develop authoritative MCP protocol specification documentation, including technical standards, implementation guides, and compliance requirements
  3. Create extensive open source MCP resources, including reference implementations, community cookbooks, and integration examples for popular frameworks and platforms; this includes the ability to write, debug, and publish clean exemplary code
  4. Design and maintain MCP developer onboarding experiences, from quickstart guides to advanced protocol extension tutorials
  5. Collaborate with open source maintainers and community contributors to establish MCP documentation standards and contribution guidelines
