Northrop Grumman is seeking a Technical Writer/Editor (Level 2/3) to derive information from technical source materials and write/edit technical documents such as manuals and specifications for aviation maintenance. Requires a Secret clearance and experience with aviation maintenance technical publication development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Derive information from released technical source and/or may assist in the development of them with engineers and SMEs.
  2. Using the source materials, you are expected to interpret, formulate, affect data and will write, re-write and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly.
  3. Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
  4. Identify and resolve moderate scope and complexity discrepancies within engineering drawings and blue prints that may impact data.
  5. Coordinate findings with team members and may refer findings to established precedents and policies to include consulting the engineering group and SMEs.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelors degree and 2 years of military, aircraft maintenance or technical writing experience; Masters degree and 0 years of relevant experience. In lieu of formal education, 6 years of relevant military, aircraft maintenance or technical writing experience.
  • Experienced in aviation maintenance technical publication development and sustainment using applicable software (e.g. Arbortext Editor)
  • Have strong writing, and editing skills, and experience in manipulating grammar.
  • Must have an active US Government Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

Nice to have

  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance.
  • Proficient in the interpretation of engineering data such as parts list, application list, notes list and print reading.
  • Experienced with configuration management.
  • Experienced in creating multi-configuration, multi-effectivity indentured parts lists from engineering data.
