Technical Lead, Software Technical Infrastructure, Quantum AI

Google Google · Big Tech · Seattle, WA +2

This role is for a Technical Lead/Manager in Google's Quantum AI team, focusing on building and running software infrastructure for quantum computers. The position involves leading a team, driving project roadmaps, and collaborating with research and product teams to transition quantum computing software from research prototypes to product-like forms. The work is described as greenfield with high impact potential.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead a team of building service infrastructure (discovery, auth, observability, and rollout), owning the goals and roadmap to influence broader engineering direction.
  2. Scope problems and recommend solutions for both short- and long-term needs, taking ownership of implementation or delegating to colleagues as required.
  3. Drive multi-quarter outcomes as a lead contributor, separately designing and implementing solutions that solve highly ambiguous technical tests.
  4. Maintain high-quality standards through code authorship and reviews, ensuring best practices in optimization while contributing to documentation and educational content.
  5. Seek design feedback to determine when to enhance or build new systems, collaborating closely with research, hardware, and electronic engineering teams.
