Technical Lead, Youtube Ads Data Infrastructure

Google Google · Big Tech · Kirkland, WA +1

This role focuses on designing and scaling critical data infrastructure for YouTube Ads, powering model training, analytics, billing, and reporting. The engineer will architect cost-efficient, high-throughput data and logging systems, improve data freshness, and collaborate with product teams. While AI/ML models are mentioned as consumers of the data infrastructure, the core responsibility is the data systems themselves, not the AI/ML development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Drive execution of high-impact, visible data projects, establishing the technical strategy and investment road-map for sustainable YouTube Ads growth.
  2. Architect cost-efficient, sub-linear data and logging infrastructure capable of managing millions of Queries Per Second (QPS) for model training, billing, and reporting.
  3. Deliver critical data solutions, including low-latency streaming datasets and improving end-to-end log freshness from over 40 hours to under 6 hours.
  4. Collaborate with executive leaders and product teams across the organization to unify workflows, ensure compliance, and maximize Return on Investment (ROI).
  5. Guide and mentor team engineers while directly contributing to technical design, coding, and solving ambiguous, complex technical problems.
