This role focuses on advancing Anthropic's safety partnerships with governments and third-party evaluators. It acts as a bridge between internal AI safety teams and external organizations, managing collaborations on pre-deployment evaluations, safety research, and regulatory harmonization. The goal is to strengthen state capacity, build an AI safety ecosystem, and develop shared standards to ensure safe AI transitions. While technically grounded, the role drives policy impact and requires coordination across multiple internal and external stakeholders.

What you'd actually do

  1. Identify collaboration opportunities that advance state capacity on AI safety, strengthen the broader safety ecosystem, and support Anthropic policy objectives for ASL-4+ readiness and standards harmonization
  2. Develop frameworks for engaging with emerging government safety organizations, to promoting a coherent global approach that leverages each country's unique capabilities
  3. Evaluate and prioritize inbound requests from external safety organizations, ensuring Anthropic's engagement is focused on high-impact collaborations
  4. Own strategic alignment as well as day-to-day coordination with US CAISI, UK AISI, and other safety organizations relevant to policy, serving as the primary operational point of contact
  5. Manage research and testing collaborations covering pre/post-deployment evaluations, safeguards testing, and alignment research

Skills

Required

  • Experience with government or third-party safety organizations (e.g., US CAISI, UK AISI, METR, Apollo)
  • Technical background in AI safety-relevant areas (evaluation methodologies, alignment, safeguards)
  • Multi-stakeholder program management
  • Judgment in ambiguous situations
  • Prioritization skills
  • Effective communication across contexts
  • Understanding of government operations and contexts

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with safety standards (Responsible Scaling policy, EU Code of Practice)
