Technical Program Manager – Ai-generated Media Provenance

Meta Meta · Big Tech · Menlo Park, CA

Technical Program Manager to lead the AI-Generated Media (AIGM) Provenance program, focusing on watermarking, detection, and industry standards (C2PA). The role involves driving cross-organizational alignment, owning technical strategy for provenance infrastructure, navigating regulatory compliance, and representing Meta in industry standards bodies. It operates at the intersection of AI research, media infrastructure, product integration, and global regulation.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and drive the end-to-end AIGM Provenance program across regulatory compliance, AI-generated media detection, and authentic signal certification workstreams.
  2. Drive cross-organizational alignment across Media Foundation, FAIR, Central Integrity, Product, and Policy teams—each with distinct roadmaps and incentives—ensuring shared milestones and accountability.
  3. Own technical strategy and execution for provenance infrastructure: watermark embedding tools, detection APIs, signal preservation through upload pipelines, transcoding, and storage schemas.
  4. Navigate regulatory compliance programs (CA SB 942, India IT Rules, South Korea) from technical requirements through production deployment within hard deadlines.
  5. Represent Meta externally in C2PA industry standards meetings, influencing specification development with technical depth and driving Meta's strategic positioning.

Skills

Required

  • Experience defining strategic direction and identifying new opportunities for impact in ambiguous, high-stakes domains
  • Proven experience leading programs that span 5+ organizations with competing priorities, driving alignment among senior stakeholders without direct authority
  • Strong understanding of content provenance technologies, digital watermarking, or cryptographic signing (e.g., C2PA, IPTC metadata)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience representing a company externally in industry standards bodies, consortia, or cross-company technical collaborations
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills for large-scale distributed systems
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience influencing executive leadership and representing technical positions to external partners
  • Demonstrated ability to drive complex, cross-organizational programs from inception to production at global scale under hard regulatory or business deadlines
  • Previous experience with AI-generated content detection, digital watermarking, or content authenticity initiatives
  • Track record of building and maintaining external industry relationships (standards bodies, cross-company working groups)
  • Experience with C2PA standards, IPTC metadata, or similar provenance/authenticity frameworks
  • Familiarity with media infrastructure at scale (billions of daily uploads, real-time transcoding pipelines, CDN delivery)
  • Deep technical fluency in media processing systems (upload, transcoding, codec libraries, storage) and/or AI/ML model training and inference pipelines
  • Background in regulatory compliance programs (privacy, content policy, or trust & safety)
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)

Nice to have

  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
