Technical Program Manager, Infrastructure

This role is for a Technical Program Manager in Infrastructure at Stripe, focusing on driving programs that improve internal platforms powering all products. The TPM will partner with engineering and product management leaders to plan, communicate, and steer execution of large-scale technical programs. Responsibilities include understanding infrastructure pain points, defining frameworks and tooling, partnering with engineering teams on migrations, shaping technical design, developing program management techniques, and elevating execution muscle. The role requires experience in software/systems engineering or TPM, distributed systems, and a track record of managing all phases of software development. Preferred qualifications include experience in a fast-changing AI toolchain environment, core infrastructure, and working with distributed teams.

What you'd actually do

  1. Working with teams across the organization to understand pain points in their infrastructure usage to find common ideas and work to create solutions which span multiple domains
  2. Define and produce high quality written proposals, communications and documentation.
  3. Help define the frameworks, async platforms, and tooling used to write and operate all Stripe products
  4. Partner with Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, Engineers and other Technical Program Managers to define, scope and drive large migration programs to conclusion.
  5. Play a key part in shaping the technical design, predicting technical roadblocks by collaborating with engineers, and identifying trade-offs.

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of software engineering, systems engineering and/or technical program management experience.
  • Experience with developer products or open source projects.
  • Experience in distributed systems, software libraries/frameworks, and service oriented architectures.
  • Excellent analytical skills; you digest complex information, can distill it and make recommendations and proposals.
  • You have a track record of providing program management during all phases of software development from kick-off to launch, demonstrating critical thinking, challenging the norms and thought leadership.
  • You have very strong written and verbal communication skills, building strong relationships with stakeholders, teams and senior leaders around the organization.
  • You can drive internal and external process improvements across multiple teams and functions and bring a wealth of experience, opinions, proposals and best practices.
  • Experience operating autonomously and rapidly and leading large-scale efforts across multiple teams and functions, with stakeholders in different disciplines across time zones.
