The Optimus (Tesla Bot) team is seeking a highly experienced Technical Program Manager to support the end-to-end development of the Optimus hand hardware subsystem. This role will focus on driving the creation of a high-dexterity, mass-manufacturable hand for the Optimus humanoid robot, ensuring seamless integration across hardware engineering, firmware, controls, and AI manipulation teams. You will work closely with Global Sourcing, Supplier Industrialization, and Tesla suppliers to meet production demands, while driving escalations and resolutions for any schedule risks. In addition to exceptional organizational skills, you must leverage strong technical expertise and demonstrate a working understanding of electromechanical systems, controls, testing, manufacturing, and assembly to guide cross-functional execution and mitigate technical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Own overall program schedule and roadmap to meet development needs. Identify strategies to accelerate development where possible
- Create, own, and manage the end-to-end hardware development process from architecture, design, prototyping, validation testing, industrialization and mass production
- Track and maintain key components and program metrics including cost, reliability, mass, and performance to schedule
- Identify, track, and communicate program and technical risks. Lead critical priority reaction plans to mitigate risks before they are realized
- Collaborate with engineering owners on design updates and ensure all changes are well-documented and efficiently implemented
- Conduct regular reviews with senior management to present project status updates
Requirements
- Degree in Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent, or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability
- 5+ years of experience in project management for complex electromechanical products
- Proactive, highly organized, and detail oriented, with strong technical communication ability
- Able to drive improvements across a global interdisciplinary team
- Experience analyzing product metrics, business cases, and schedules for large scale product implementation

Expected Compensation
$104,000 - $234,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
