Technical Program Manager, South Korea

The Technical Program Manager will be responsible for expanding autonomous maritime vessel capabilities in South Korea. This role involves establishing trusted relationships with key stakeholders, leveraging bilingual Korean/English fluency for complex technical and business discussions, and driving execution of joint initiatives with Korean shipbuilding partners. The TPM will also develop and deliver a partnership roadmap and institute regular executive business and technical reviews. The role requires experience in technical program management, familiarity with AI and autonomous systems, and knowledge of Korea's defense industrial landscape, operating within a regulated business environment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Establish trusted relationships with key stakeholders within our primary Korean partner, including executive leadership and technical teams. Executive stakeholder engagement in large, complex manufacturing organizations
  2. Utilize your bilingual Korean/English fluency with ability to conduct complex technical and business discussions in both languages
  3. Leverage cross-cultural business acumen and ability to navigate Korean business practices, decision-making processes, and organizational dynamics
  4. Autonomously execute on broad and/or ambiguous requirements from external clients. Demonstrate high ownership on all pieces of work. Ability to structure complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives and drive to closure
  5. Develop and deliver on a partnership roadmap identifying near-term collaboration opportunities and capability gaps
  6. Institute a regular cadence of executive business reviews and technical coordination meetings with partner organizations

Skills

Required

  • 10+ years of experience, specifically in technical program management and/or systems engineering, or related project management in a relevant industry.
  • Professional fluency in Korean and English, with strong communication and presentation skills
  • Technical acumen and deep familiarity with AI and autonomous systems
  • Robust knowledge of Korea’s defense industrial landscape
  • Track record of setting and achieving goals in a complex, unstructured environment
  • Founder’s mentality to proactively own work across all functions of our business
  • Experience with complex systems involving hardware and software
  • Understanding of government contract structure and reporting.
  • Strong analytical abilities, with a high detail orientation and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to operate well in a highly regulated business environment.
  • Authorization to work and reside in South Korea
  • On-site candidates only with an ability to be in office daily
  • Ability to travel both internationally and domestically (~35-50%) required

Nice to have

  • Defense industry experience in both South Korea and United States, including familiarity with international defense partnerships
  • Maritime or shipbuilding industry knowledge, including understanding of naval programs, manufacturing processes, and integration requirements
  • Engineering background with understanding of autonomous systems, unmanned vehicles, or complex system integration
  • Korean defense procurement and regulatory framework expertise
  • Established network within Korean maritime, shipbuilding, or defense sectors with existing relationships at target organizations
