Anduril Industries is a defense technology company seeking a Technical Writer for their Fighter Aircraft Data Module team. The role involves developing and delivering technical documentation, including S1000D data modules, for military systems. This requires close collaboration with engineering, operations, and government representatives to ensure accurate, user-focused documentation that meets contractual requirements. The position emphasizes extreme ownership, risk management, and a data-driven approach to task prioritization.

What you'd actually do

  1. Generate, review, and edit s1000d data modules in Siemens Rapid Author
  2. Generate, review, and edit documentation that is user-focused. Work with Engineering and Operations to deliver task, conditions, standard-centric documentation
  3. Communicate and help manage expectations. Ensure risks are noted with adequate time, and shared with leadership.
  4. Manage risk and provide thorough, excellent communication about those risks and all other change.
  5. Evaluate and prioritize tasks required to successfully support product documentation efforts and keep them on track. Help drive the best decision for the company by using a data-driven approach and consider input from stakeholders to ensure well-informed decisions. You should be prepared to fill gaps that represent risks to the documentation roadmap

Skills

Required

  • 4+ years of demonstrated excellence generating technical documentation
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering documentation
  • Experience building DOD-focused content in XML
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Nice to have

  • Experience creating S1000D data modules, ideally MIL-STD-3048 experience
  • Previous experience creating technical documentation in Aerospace and Defense (for DoD)
  • Military exposure and experience, particularly with military technical documentation writing and formatting standards, guidelines, and verbiage
  • Prior military aviation service
  • Experience Documenting Software Release content in an Agile environment
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with emphasis on technical subjects
  • Passion for excellent documentation and user experience
