Temporary Outside Plant Technician

This role involves construction and repair of outside plant cable facilities, conduit, and pole lines using heavy-duty power equipment and hand tools. Responsibilities include loading tools and materials, driving company vehicles (potentially with manual transmission and towing), obtaining a Class A Driver's License, and participating in drug and alcohol testing programs. The technician will review schematic drawings, perform heavy physical labor, maintain equipment, respond to customer inquiries, and use testing equipment. Safety and quality standards must be met, and some roles may require climbing poles. The position is temporary, full-time, and non-management.

What you'd actually do

  1. Works with heavy duty power equipment and hand tools in the construction and repair of outside plant cable facilities, conduit and pole lines
  2. Loads required tools and material into assigned Company vehicle with manual gearshift/transmission and drives or rides to work locations
  3. Will be required to obtain Class A Driver's License once on the job. (this includes passing a Federal DOT Medical Examination)
  4. Reviews and analyzes complex schematic drawings to determine work to be done, methods and sequence of tasks
  5. Performs various types of construction operations which all require heavy physical labor and lifting
