Thermal Manufacturing Quality Engineer

Apple Apple · Big Tech · Suzhou, Jiangsu, China · Operations and Supply Chain

The Thermal Manufacturing Quality Engineer will work with multi-functional teams to identify risks, explore solutions, reach consensus, and execute mitigations for thermal module quality. Responsibilities include planning DOEs, driving qualification efforts, performing failure analysis, leading quality functions for programs, writing/auditing validation tests, and driving vendor process improvements through yield gap analysis. Requires an MS degree in Mechanical/Materials/Data Engineering and experience with mechanical part development, production processes, and performance characterization. Familiarity with GD&T, PFMEA, tolerance analysis, project management, and statistical tools is preferred. Big data analysis skills with JMP/Python/Tableau are also preferred, and knowledge of heat transfer, acoustics, module assembly, stamping, CNC, testing, SMT, AL/ML is a plus.

What you'd actually do

  1. Plan DOEs to resolve impacts on process capability and cell performance, summarize data findings, and implement changes to meet specification standards.
  2. Drive qualification efforts in a wide variety of areas such as metrology, function inspection, cosmetic during module assembly.
  3. Perform failure analysis to understand thermal failure modes and implement preventive measures.
  4. Lead quality related functions for a program and serve as a project manager to push efforts at supplier locations.
  5. Write, assess, and audit validation tests both internally and at the vendors.
