Tool Gauge Inspector - Level 1

This role is for a Tool Gauge Inspector at Northrop Grumman, responsible for performing quality inspections on piece parts, subassemblies, and final assemblies, as well as tool inspections. The position requires a high school diploma, the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance, and involves using standard measurement instruments and potentially CMM and portable inspection equipment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform visual, in-process and final dimensional inspections on tightly tolerance piece parts, subassemblies and final assemblies in the Receiving Quality Control area.
  2. Perform tool inspections on various programs
  3. Performs required inspections in accordance with procedures and planning documentation.
  4. Performs required inspections using standard measurement instruments.

Skills

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time, walk up and down stairs, climb up ladders, reach into tight spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

  • Interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent working knowledge and understanding of GD&T and ANSI Y14.5.
  • Perform certification review on supplier documentation and issue Authorization to Ship (ATS).
  • Familiar with standard Mechanical Inspection techniques and tools.
  • Experience with ISO 9000/AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement/PES techniques.
  • Good computer skills - MS Office, Costpoint, QMIS, ePic, Nautilus.
  • Operate a CMM Using the PCDMIS Software.
  • Familiarity with portable inspection equipment including laser trackers.
  • Self-Starter and ability to work through an issue to closure
  • Operate a forklift and crane.
