Boeing is seeking a Tool Maker to join their Materials Management & Tooling team. This role involves creating, maintaining, and enhancing tools used in aircraft production, requiring expertise in fabrication, assembly, repair, and maintenance of various tools and materials. The position emphasizes adherence to safety and quality standards, collaboration with engineering and production teams, and the use of precision measuring instruments and computing systems. Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, operating machinery, performing shop math, and ensuring tool availability and certification.

What you'd actually do

  1. Sequence, layout, fabricate, assemble, repair, rework, and maintain tools of various types and materials, following written or verbal instructions.
  2. Obtain assignments from team leaders, leads, supervisors, or work order files based on schedule, tool availability, and priority.
  3. Retrieve and interpret tool and engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, production parts, computing systems (e.g., MAPS, REDARS, Catia, Enovia), MES data, 3D models, and verbal instructions to determine work scope and required tools.
  4. Use all types of power equipment (handheld and floor-mounted) and perform bench work including cutting, grinding, shaping, bending, drilling, tapping, wiring, lay-up, plumbing, weld prep, and hand finishing.
  5. Apply shop math, including trigonometry and geometry, to calculate dimensions and complete assignments accurately.
