Tooling Engineer/Designer at RTX (aerospace and defense) responsible for reviewing and creating designs for new repair tools for military engine programs, ensuring compliance with requirements, and collaborating with various engineering teams. Requires a STEM Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience or an Advanced degree with 5+ years of experience, tool design experience, knowledge of GD&T, manufacturing processes, and CAD modeling.

What you'd actually do

  1. Review concepts for new repair tools for all Military Engine programs including F135, F119 and other legacy programs.
  2. Create tool design layouts and final designs.
  3. Review preliminary and final detailed designs.
  4. Ensure tools are developed and produced in compliance with P&W Repair Tool Design requirements and customer expectations.
  5. Perform form, fit, and function checks; complete tolerance stack-ups, process tool drawings for final release.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math and 8+ years of related experience or an Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math and 5+ years of related experience
  • Tool design experience
  • Ability to read and interpret repair requirements, and engineering part prints
  • Strong working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Familiarity with typical repair and manufacturing processes including machining, grinding, and special processes including shot-peen, welding, brazing, riveting, and coating processes including plasma spray
  • Familiarity with commonly used tooling materials
  • Demonstrated competency in mechanical drafting, detailed drawing preparation, revision, and release processes
  • CAD modeling & drafting experience

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 3000+ hours NX/Unigraphics
  • Teamcenter experience
