Tooling Mechanic role at Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) in Berkeley, MO. What you'd actually do

  1. Fabricate, maintain, modify, & install various forms of tooling, such as production assembly jigs, engineering test fixtures, fabrication equipment, etc. in collaboration with engineering design teams, production operations, and production engineering
  2. Develop, prepare and maintain all documentation related to the design, fabrication, and usage of various tooling items and their respective associated calibration equipment
  3. Program, setup, and machine parts on 3 and 5 axis mills, lathes, and live tooling lathes
  4. Utilize manual equipment to fabricate or modify various tooling components
  5. Other responsibilities to include Equipment Maintenance & Calibration, Blueprint Reading, CNC machining, Welding, Composites Modification, Tooling Inspection, Laser Tracking, CMM and Portable Arm

Skills

Required

  • 1+ years’ experience working in a machining environment
  • 1+ years’ experience in repairing, maintaining, construction, and/or the inspection of tools, dies, jigs, powerfeed, etc.
  • 1+ years’ experience in Fabrication Tooling
  • Experience using complete set of toolmaker shop equipment (milling, lathe, precision, grinding, polishing, and fitting)
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance

Nice to have

  • Associate’s degree, equivalent trade school certificate, and/or equivalent military experience
  • Experience with Aerospace Manufacturing, Fabrication, Assembly Processes and Technologies
  • Experience in CAD/CAM software (CATIA, Vericut simulation, MasterCAM)
  • 1+ years’ experience as a machine operator, writing and editing CNC programs
  • Experience operating metrology devices such as CMM, Arm, or Laser Tracker using CAD-based metrology software
