Boeing is seeking a Tooling Mechanic Quality Inspector to perform inspections of fabricated special tools and periodic inspection of tooling. This role involves verifying conformance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards, documenting non-conformances, and auditing processes. The inspector will use precision measurement tools and software, interpret engineering drawings and MBD information, and collaborate with internal teams. Experience in quality inspection, tooling/manufacturing environments, and reading engineering drawings is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform inspection and process monitoring of tool fabrication to ensure tools are built according to applicable drawings, specifications, and procedures
  2. Conduct periodic tooling inspections using both physical and digital definitions, interpreting data to verify tooling compliance
  3. Utilize and interpret 3D measurement and analysis systems and software, such as Laser Trackers, Romer Arms, and Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM)
  4. Conduct precision measurement inspections for first article inspections or production validations, checking parts against 3D models, blueprints, or quality inspection plans
  5. Obtain and review applicable tool drawings, engineering drawings, Model Based Definition (MBD) information, and specifications to perform assigned tasks

  • Proficiency with software applications (internet, email, Microsoft Suite)

Nice to have

  • Technical trade school certificate or degree
  • Apprenticeship completion
  • Aerospace tool and part fabrication experience
  • 3+ years of experience performing quality inspections on machined parts and mechanical assemblies
  • 3+ years of experience conducting inspections using ASME standards for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
