Trade Finance Client Service Associate

Client service role focused on trade finance and transaction banking for clients in the Asia-Pacific region, requiring relationship building, problem-solving, and product expertise.

What you'd actually do

  1. Act as the main point of contact for your assigned client portfolio, handling inquiries, escalations, and complaints across trade finance and cash management products, including letters of credit, bank guarantees, documentary collections, and trade loans.
  2. Build strong relationships with your clients by being proactive — identifying issues early, following up regularly, and recommending service improvements where needed.
  3. Develop a deep understanding of each client's business, priorities, and operating model to provide tailored trade finance solutions and continuously add value.
  4. Work with sales, product, onboarding, and operations teams to resolve client issues, improve processes, and enhance product offerings.
  5. Run regular service reviews using data to track client activity, spot trends, and find opportunities to improve the trade finance experience.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in client service, trade finance operations
  • Good understanding of trade finance products such as letters of credit, bank guarantees, documentary collections, and trade loans.
  • Familiarity with trade finance documentation, compliance requirements, and international trade rules
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to create reports, track performance, and support decision-making.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to articulate concepts/issues clearly
  • Able to build strong relationships and work well with clients, internal teams, and senior partners.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and stay organized under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and a focus on delivering results.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Demonstrated strong digital mindset with curiosity and comfort adopting new technologies and staying informed on emerging AI tools and trends, applying them responsibly to improve productivity, decision-making, automation, and customer/employee experiences while adhering to governance, risk, and data/privacy standards.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Asia-Pacific trade regulations and local market practices in Malaysia.
  • Experience running client service reviews and turning data insights into practical improvements.
  • Knowledge of anti-money laundering, sanctions screening, and know-your-customer requirements as they relate to trade finance transactions.
  • Experience in Cash/Treasury client servicing or operations is preferred.
