Boeing is seeking a first-line manager for their Systems Engineering team supporting Special Projects Training Systems. The role involves leading a team of 15-20 engineers, managing control accounts and EVM, and supporting hardware design, systems engineering, and integration/test activities for training systems products. Requires a Top Secret security clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead a team of 15-20 multi-skilled engineers working systems engineering and hardware efforts related to training systems programs
  2. Report to the senior Systems Engineering manager to ensure seamless cross-program functional support is provided for all aspects of the Systems Engineering, Integration, & Test (SEIT) function
  3. Interface with program managers and other engineering functions to ensure program objectives are met, to include taking responsibility for various control accounts and Earned Value Management (EVM) duties
  4. Remove road blocks for the team, provide higher level and external support, coordinate with customers and suppliers in pursuit of program contractual requirements and objectives, etc.
  5. Support team members by prioritizing career development, employee engagement, and performance management

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, integration & test engineering, hardware engineering, or a related function
  • 2+ years Earned Value Management (EVM) experience
  • Current DOD Top Secret clearance (active within the past 24 months)

Nice to have

  • 3+ years leading engineering teams in a lead or manager role
  • Exposure to multiple phases of the Systems Engineering lifecycle, such as design, development, lab test, flight test, production, sustainment, etc.
  • Advanced degrees (MS or MBA)
  • Experience in a role requiring strategic planning (project/program management)
  • Engineering management experience.
