Transmission Engineer

The Transmission Engineer role at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is responsible for the 24/7 monitoring and operational sustainment of Linear and Event streaming products (HULU, ESPN+, Disney+). This involves supporting critical streaming broadcast systems, analyzing audio/video transmissions, and ensuring the successful management, monitoring, and delivery of live linear and event broadcast streams within an IP-based transmission ecosystem. The role requires routing and monitoring A/V feeds, identifying and resolving issues in a live production environment, and remotely configuring hardware.

What you'd actually do

  1. Routing and monitoring multiple A/V feeds to and from our facilities.
  2. Quickly identifying and resolving issues in a live production environment.
  3. Remotely configure hardware as required for live events and linear acquisition and distribution.
  4. Maintain knowledge of new technology and workflows to support various assignments.
  5. Comply fully with company and or department SOPs and any other stated policies.

Skills

Required

  • Understanding of digital distribution equipment for broadcast transmission.
  • Basic knowledge of IP based transport (HLS, RTMP, SRT, unicast, multicast, etc.).
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good communication skills working in a 24/7 technical environment.

Nice to have

  • Prior Broadcasting experience is desirable or similar transferable experience.
