Transportation Policy Analyst- Secret Clearance Required

This role focuses on developing, interpreting, and overseeing defense-wide transportation policies and regulatory frameworks. It involves applying technical knowledge of the Defense Transportation System, supporting senior leaders in industry engagement, evaluating transportation functions, and conducting data analysis for efficiency improvements. The role is within Deloitte's Government & Public Services practice, specifically supporting project delivery.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop, interpret, and oversee defense-wide transportation policies and regulatory frameworks
  2. Apply deep technical knowledge of the Defense Transportation System (DTS) and defense Transportation and Traffic Management policies.
  3. Support senior leaders in commercial transportation industry engagement and collaborate with senior leaders across defense, OMB, NSC, and other federal agencies.
  4. Evaluate the effectiveness of transportation functions and recommend actions to enhance military effectiveness, economy, and uniformity across operations.
  5. Conduct data analysis, reporting, and category management to inform decision-making and improve efficiency.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Active Secret security clearance
  • 5+ years of experience in defense transportation policies, directives, and regulations
  • Experience with the Defense Transportation Regulation
  • Ability to work on-site in Alexandria, VA

Nice to have

  • Experience with Maritime Administration (MARAD), Military Sealift Command (MSC), and Army Transportation Command (ARTRANS) operations
  • 1+ years of experience in sealift operations
  • Experience with VISA, VTA, Transportation Service Providers (TSP), and Maritime Security Program (MSP)
  • Experience with charter, commercial, and organic sealift requirements
  • Experience interpreting the Jones Act and cargo preference as related to sealift requirements
  • Experience in defense transportation management requirements and compliance
