What you'd actually do

  1. Plan, perform and coordinate all operation, modifications, inspections, maintenance and servicing of aircraft and ground support equipment.
  2. Improvise tooling and methods as required to complete job.
  3. Certify all required work.
  4. Keep abreast of and assure compliance with all applicable federal government and civilian regulations and the like pertaining to the maintenance and modification of aircraft.
  5. Provide continuous training to aircrews in the use and care of aircrew life support and training or egress systems and/or associated life support equipment for nonrelated personnel prior to participating in flying activities on ground engine/systems operation.

Skills

Required

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Power Plant Certificate
  • Four (4) years experience as an aircraft mechanic
  • Current in the aviation field within the previous 24 months
  • Three (3) years turbine engine experience

  • Ability to improvise tooling and methods
  • Knowledge of aircraft structures, components, power plants, and systems
  • Familiarity with FAA and military regulations
  • Experience with aircrew life support systems

What the JD emphasized

  • Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Power Plant Certificate required
