Boeing Defence UK is seeking a Product Review Engineer (Mechanical & Structural) to support the sustainment program for the UK E-7 Wedgetail aircraft. The role involves applying engineering principles to develop solutions for product/process issues, conducting failure and root cause analysis, providing dispositions for non-conformances, and participating in Material Review Boards. The ideal candidate will have an accredited bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Science, with experience in aerospace design or manufacturing, and knowledge of materials science, structural analysis, and aircraft mechanical systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. Apply knowledge of Boeing design and/or engineering principles to develop interim or final engineering solutions to product/process issues throughout production and/or for technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.
  2. Analyse, conduct failure analysis, root cause analysis and troubleshoot to understand root cause. Provide assistance and engineering support to identify solutions. Provide written dispositions for design non-conformances and damage sustained during operations. Support activities to identify deviations that could impact design intent and safety and product/process improvements.
  3. Develop customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
  4. Develop and implement product/process improvements.
  5. Participate in Material Review Boards and support Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) as well as providing technical input to design and in-service reviews.

Skills

Required

  • Accredited bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science/Engineering
  • Experience in aerospace design or manufacturing
  • Ability to use 3D CAD packages, such as CATIA V5
  • Knowledge of materials science, corrosion mechanisms, and structural analysis
  • Knowledge of aircraft mechanical systems
  • Expertise in non -destructive examination methods
  • Extensive and specialised ability to analyse and interpret product data (e.g. Engineering drawings, Part Lists, Supplier data, Wiring Diagrams and Schematics)

Nice to have

  • An E7 Material Review Board Ticket/Boeing Universal Product Review type-qualification
  • Significant demonstrated E-7 Wedgetail or Fixed Wing (e.g. 737, P-8) experience and knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures, practices, engineering drawings, standards and specifications
  • Knowledge of UK MOD aircraft maintenance processes, policies, organisations, capabilities, and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaboratively effectively with team members across the globe, other employees and external customers
  • Strong judgement and calm decision-making under pressure
  • Previous experience with UK MOD Resolve and GOLDesp
  • Engineering degree with CEng or IEng registration or equivalent experience
